HP might be first to bring the Core i5/i7 CPUs to the Tablet PCs. Next Business Tablet HP EliteBook 2740p will be powered by latest Intel Arrandale CPUs and offers a 12.1’’ non glare display, dual touch and multitouch capabilities (digitizer pen and multiple finger touch). It will be available
beginning end of April in Germany, around end of March in US. Engadget has the pictures.
The successor of EliteBook 2730p comes with a high quality “LongLife” battery which allows up to 1000 charges with minimal capacity reduction, along with 3 years of guarantee (Thank you Apple for leading here).
Unfortunately new docking stations are be needed, adding a display port while the Convertible comes with VGA.
Availability in Germany is set for end of April. Prices have not yet been announced.
More specs as soon they are known. Due to being a no show at CeBIT fair, you will not to be able to see the new device in Hannover this week (see my list of Tablets at CeBIT here).
Competing devices with Core i7 CPUs will be Lenovo’s ThinkPad X201t (12.1 inch Convertible) and Fujitsu’s LifeBook T900, both yet with unknown availability. Meanwhile, Toshiba’s Core i7 Tablet PC, Portégé M780 will NOT come to Germany, Toshiba confirmed to me.
